Cancer is a surreptitious killer that has touched all of our lives in one way or another. Treating cancer is very challenging as tumor cells constantly evolve and acquire new characteristics and capabilities. Decades of research have yielded several chemotherapeutic agents that show differing efficacies in killing cancer cells, but these agents often also cause debilitating side-effects.


Our Vision

Our area of translational research is a rapidly evolving one. This era of precision medicine in oncology has spurred the development of numerous biomarker panels, targeted therapies, companion diagnostics and new therapeutic agents aiming to provide more precise diagnostic and prognostic tools and more efficacious, minimally toxic treatments. We staunchly believe that through hard work, perseverance, creativity, and constructive collaboration, we can reduce cancer prevalence and improve clinical cancer treatment. Furthermore, we strongly believe in the power of cross-disciplinary research efforts, which synergize to inspire innovative and non-linear thinking. In cancer research, the stakes are so high, the opponent so formidable, that we must bring our best act to the table!

Our Laboratory

Our laboratory is devoted to addressing the urgent need for providing an integrated approach to detect disease-specific diagnostic and prognostic clinical molecular markers in cancers of breast, prostate, colon, bladder, and pancreas, while developing chemopreventive approaches and "kinder and gentler" chemotherapeutic modalities. The overarching, long-term goal is to improve patient outcomes by increasing disease-free survival and enhancing patients' quality of life.
